In 2018, the state of Minnesota adopted a tiered licensure system with the intent simplifying teacher licensure, while expanding candidates’ ability to attain a license. Additionally, through the tiered licensure system, the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) takes into consideration an educator’s professional experiences, credentials, and evaluations. This allows educators to move up through many factors that make educators effective. Additionally, the tiered licensing system “...specifically welcomes talented, experienced, and effective teachers into Minnesota classrooms, and to make sure that students never again lose a great teacher due to arbitrary barriers” (Sellers, 2019). The goal of this webinar is to help educators navigate the tiered licensure system to ensure successful attainment of their professional license.
